About the Hungarian Contact Point

In accordance with the Directive 2011/24/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of the European Union on the application of patients’ rights in cross-border healthcare, Member States establish National Contact Points in order to ensure the flow of information.

The tasks of the Hungarian National Contact Point (NCP) are carried out by the Integrated Legal Protection Service (ILPS) established by Government Decree 381/2016 (XII. 2.). Hungary has thus complied with its obligations under Directive 2011/24/EU.

It is the goal of ILPS to provide information to patients and healthcare professionals on the conditions of cross-border healthcare, on healthcare providers, on patients’ rights, complaint procedures, legal remedies, and legal and administrative opportunities.

In the course of carrying out such tasks, the ILPS shall cooperate closely with the Contact Points of other Member States, ensure adequate exchange of information, and facilitate patient-provider communication. The ILPS shall respect Hungarian and EU laws in the course of its activities.
