In accordance with the Directive 2011/24/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of the European Union on the application of patients’ rights in cross-border healthcare, Member States establish National Contact Points in order to ensure the flow of information.
The tasks of the Hungarian National Contact Point (NCP) are carried out by the National Center for Patients’ Rights and Documentation (OBDK) established by Government Decree 214/2012 (VII. 30.). Hungary has thus complied with its obligations under Directive 2011/24/EU.
It is the goal of OBDK to provide information to patients and healthcare professionals on the conditions of cross-border healthcare, on healthcare providers, on patients’ rights, complaint procedures, legal remedies, and legal and administrative opportunities.
In the course of carrying out such tasks, the OBDK shall cooperate closely with the Contact Points of other Member States, ensure adequate exchange of information, and facilitate patient-provider communication. The OBDK shall respect Hungarian and EU laws in the course of its activities.
